Fond memories of James Bond

News of the death of Sean Connery at 90 made me dive into fond memories of Bond movies known for his stellar performance as secret agent 007 ! He brought a distinct glory to the Bond movies by cementing an unforgettable bond with the audience across continents. His gestures, majestic poise in nabbing the culprits and unwinding the ploy of the villains,his sensuous handling of the sizzling blondes,the chasing scenes with serpentine twists and turns of the motor cars and yachts, skurfing and water skiing leaving a long trail of foaming water behind,tubing in a zigzag path on vast s terrains of water,scenes of skiing with a glide on icy mountains, all leave an indelible impression on the minds.Though these features are common in many of the  the Bond movies ,Sean Connery has carved a niche for himself !

 James Bond is the iconic character of a Secret Service agent rolled out by the author Ian Fleming in a series of spy novels.Sean Connery was the first actor to portray the Bond character.A Scottish amateur body builder,he drew the attention of the Bond film producers. About seven actors have so far played the role as James Bond beginning with Sean Connery.I had a chance to see only three of his movies ; “Goldfinger” , “Thunderball”  and “Diamonds Are Forever” all of which left a lasting impression on my mind.”The Spy Who Loved Me” and “Octopussy” with Roger Moore and  “Licence to Kill” with Timothy Dalton  and “Tomorrow Never Dies”with Pierce Brosnan in the roles of James Bond are a few others I have seen and enjoyedDaniel Craig as James Bond in “No Time to Die” is to be released in 2021.

 

In many Bond movies,the titles precede with a white dot blinking across the screen from left to right.On reaching the edge of the frame,the dot unfolds into the interior of a gun barrel. Bond movies are of a different genre right from the instant of opening scene with a ringing,rolling and reverberating background music where the secret agent takes a gaiety walk along the length of the screen, shooting with the pistol and taking a sudden turn towards the audience ! Awesome ! !
